Sunday 2nd September

6.30 - 10pm

Royal Philharmonic Orchestra
The Royal Philharmonic Orchestra (RPO) was founded in 1946 by Sir Thomas Beecham, whose vision was to bring world-class performances of the greatest music ever written to the masses. Now in its 61st year the RPO continue to maintain Beecham’s legacy in the UK and abroad, accompanied by some of the most acclaimed artists and conductors of our day, including Rudolf Kempe, Antal Doráti, André Previn and Vladimir Ashkenazy. The RPO now tour under the inspired leadership of Maestro Daniele Gatti.

Once again, Newham Council joins forces with the RPO and Newham Music Trust to bring together some of the borough’s most talented young musicians and inspire them to create a piece of brand new music. This year they are also joined by Urban Development, a Stratford-based group who are the one-stop organisation for East London’s new urban music talent.
Creative Director Tim Steiner leads a team of RPO musicians along with developing urban artists and producer Gabriel Prokofiev. This top artistic team worked with students from Newham Music Trust. The result will be an exiting fusion of urban and classical; a meeting of different musical styles and cultures.
